FOTON MOTOR GROUP is a leading automobile manufacturing company dealing in commercial vehicles like trucks, buses, sport utility vehicles and agricultural machinery. It was established on August 28, 1996 and is headquartered in Beijing, China. It is a principal subsidiary of the BAIC Group (officially Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd.), a Chinese state-owned enterprise and holding company of several automobile and machine manufacturers in China.

Foton has established itself as a Commercial Vehicle Enterprise with the Most Complete Business range. It produces an entire series of commercial vehicles, including heavy duty truck, medium duty truck, light duty truck, VAN, pickup and SUV, mini truck, large and medium-sized bus thus providing solutions for customers in all segments of commercial vehicles. Foton Motor Group has been a leading commercial vehicle brand in China for many years. Foton's business units are seen in cities and provinces such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shandong, Hebei, Hunan, Hubei, Liaoning, and Guangdong. Its assets are worth more than 50 billion Yuan and it has over 300,000 employees. It has produced and sold 1.1 crore vehicles in total. It has been ranking first in Chinese commercial vehicle sector for 14 consecutive years.

Foton has imprinted its name in the world as a brand seen and trusted everywhere, from Olympic Games to International Conferences. It has also contributed to the space industry by providing transportation work related to " Shenzhou VI" spacecraft in 2005, is helping in and helped "Shenzhou IX“ spacecraft launch project in 2012 and transferring Shenzhou-XI manned spacecraft in 2013. Foton has been an important participant in the construction of the “Belt and Road”, serving multiple star construction companies and key projects. On December 20, 2019, Foton delivered nearly a thousand pure electric buses to PMI, India’s largest bus management and manufacturing company. In June 2019, Foton successfully delivered 145 heavy trucks for the Guinea CMD Highway project.

Strategic Alliance

Foton has entered into a joint venture with Daimler to build “Foton Daimler” high-quality trucks. It also carries out joint venture with world's leading independent engine manufacturer-Cummins to build “Foton Cummins” ” with the aim of establishing a high standard diesel engine production base. It also has alliance with one of three largest gearbox brands-'ZF', to build “Foton ZF” and “ZF Foton” by forming a world-class gearbox production base.
